Caught up with Day 1?
If you’ve seen our post from yesterday, you will know all about the Comic Book Strip Trail that we have embarked on during our time here in Brussels. With extreme weather wiping out most of the afternoon, it means that we have a lot of hard work ahead of us in the coming days to find all of them – but here is what we found today…
Between finding art murals and going to the Comic Strip Centre, we made our way to Choco Story – a small museum on the history of Belgian chocolate. Although the museum wasn’t as great as we thought it would be, we did watch a quick demonstration on how to make praline chocolates, and taste it afterwards as well! Delicious!
Back to the topic of Comic Books and not only is there street art all around the city, but also a museum about the history of the comic book, the process of designing, drawing and refining the stories. Jessica as a former art student was her in her element, and surprisingly as a man who has never been able to draw a stick man, was also intrigued!
It did make me wish I was able to draw something close to the extraordinary art pieces we were surrounded by, and that I had the patience for it, and that I read more comic books as a child – I guess it’s never too late!
As mentioned, the weather meant that the later part of the afternoon led us back to the hotel to take cover. Hopefully it will clear up by tomorrow so we can go over to the Atomium and finish up our Brussels and overall Interrail adventures!
Disclaimer: we were given complimentary Brussels Cards for a mention in this blog post and coverage on social media. However as always, all pictures and views are our own.
