Restaurant: Steam Yard – Division Street, Sheffield

The Cuban – gammon Swiss gherkins and mustard – £4.50 – Jessica

To end the year we have come back to what was both our second home for so long, and what lies very close to our hearts still, Sheffield.

The days of independent coffee, beautiful scenery and a quiet life are dearly missed, and given the chance to spend a few days here were snapped at with New Year approaching.

First stop when we arrived was one of our favourite coffee shops, Steam Yard.

3 Cheese grilled sandwich – applewood and red cheddar and Swiss with red onion chutney – £4.80 – James

As always our food was exquisitely delicious and almost every bite was met with a strong nod of approval. The highlight was definitely the desserts of Apple Bumble and Mestizo – both Steam Yard’s own creations. We’ve previously had their Hot Smore doughnuts which were divine, and these definitely matched up, and maybe even surpassed that!

Apple bumble – £3.50 – Jessica

Peanut butter mestizo – £2.70 – James

Mocha – £2.90 – Jessica

Latte – £2.50 – James

Also a shoutout to the red onion chutney on my cheese sandwich! The best 30p I’ve ever spent!

As I think we’ve said every time we’ve been here, we’ll be back time and time again, never failing to be amazed of how good their food and coffee is. If you live in Sheffield and haven’t been, you haven’t actually lived here. And if you’re visiting, like us make it your first stop!
