Afternoon Tea: Peckforton Castle - Cheshire

Grandma Baker very kindly gifted us with an afternoon tea voucher at Christmas, for Peckforton Castle, a beautiful hotel in the countryside of Cheshire. This being as my Uncle is getting married here in the summer, so we would get to have a chance to check out the venue beforehand.

Today would be the day we would make the short trip here as we won't be back together in the area for a little while, and we couldn't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

We drove (not at 90) down the country lanes, to find the stunning castle on the hill, and took our time to take in the surroundings and take our pictures. Going in and we were very surprised to see that we were the only ones in the restaurant area. It was early, only 12pm, but after finding that this was the only time slot available when we booked about a week ago, we must've come just before the busiest period.

No complaints though, it made for a very relaxing atmosphere and personal service from the waitresses that served us during our time there.

The coffee and tower of sandwiches, cakes and scones arrived within moments. We took our time and savoured each bite, and as always, were left more than full at the end. It was very much a traditional offering, but the cakes took some figuring out to know what was in each one. Carrot cake, banana, and french pastries were all divine!

From here we went to the nearby Ice Cream Farm, and enjoyed some toffee fudge, and raspberry oreo ice creams to top of our afternoon. A big thank you to Grandma for our afternoon tea voucher. We can't wait to get back here in the summer for the wedding!

  1. The towers of yummy goods boggles me whenever I see posts about afternoon tea. I mean, in America, we know y'all have teas, but I always imagined maybe a few cookies and scones. You go all out though. When I finally make it to the U.K., I need you two to take me out for tea like this. But anyway, this looks amazing! I'm happy you two liked it so much ♥️
