Afternoon Tea: The Barbican Centre, London

This afternoon I, James was surprise treated by my darling to a spot of Afternoon Tea in a location we've been longing to visit. After our last attempt to come here was ruined by someone's very inconsiderate decision to get married, we weren't to be let down this time around.

We arrived and were shown to our table immediately, the food arrived quickly and Prosecco was pronto. Do find what was included in the Afternoon Tea in the descriptions below.

Sandwiches: Coconut and Kaffir Lime Chicken, Smoked Mackerel and Turmeric, Avocado, Cucumber and Smoked Pepper, Burford Brown Egg, Watercress and Dill
Scones: Lemon Thyme and Date Palm scones with cream and jam

Each sandwich was made with the softest bread you could find, and the fillings weren't the typical you'd find in a traditional Afternoon Tea. The flavours were present but not overpowering. We both agreed the smoked mackerel pate as a fan favourite!

Orange and Lavender Cake, Rosemary and Papaya Tart, Coffee and Banana Γ‰clair, Pear and Cardamom loaf, Lemon Macaroons

On to the scones which were again delightful. The scone, cream and jam were all of perfect texture to make sure it didn't fall apart until it bit in to. Each cake on the top tier were again all a bit different from what you'd be used to. Every single thing on the little tower of magic was to a tee, saving the best to last - the coffee and banana eclair.

From there we strolled around the gardens, giving us the chance to get some scenic shots and self timer specials...

Overall it was a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon and we'd fully recommend it to anyone in London!

  5. Those sandwiches look stellar! And golly, the coffee and banana eclair looks so yummy. I'd take it upon myself to personally inhale them to check for poison. I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt, ya know? This looks like a great way to spend an afternoon!
