VlogmasBlogmas: Date Night Winter Film Club

On Thursday afternoon, we had the great surprise to receive an email saying we had won tickets to the Winter Film Club, for that evening! This is the same company as the Rooftop Film Club, which we have been to twice before, in Stratford. You can read our first experience posts here.

Thursday night's show was however in Peckham, and we met there after I, James had my haircut and Jessica had finished work. It wasn't easy to find, but after we took a risk of walking up some very dimly lit by candlelight stairs, we were welcomed to the venue.

We bagged an apple juice and free popcorn (with our Rooftop membership), and took a seat in the deckchairs. The venue was rustic in feel, it felt like we were in an old church or something like that. I must say I preferred the atmosphere of the summer Rooftop club, perhaps because it was alongside places to eat and drink, overlooking East London. However, it certainly didn't stop us from enjoying the movie.

It was called 'Life, Animated,' a film documentary following a boy with autism, who learnt to talk and read with the power of Disney movies. He memorised every movie line by line, and learnt to read the credits. His first ever words were those of Peter Pan. It followed his journey through the good and bad, from childhood to adulthood, where he inspired others that life can be as great as you want it to be. It definitely captured our hearts and imaginations, gripping us through the whole 90 minutes.

As I implied, there were unfortunately no food offerings inside the venue, which meant dinner wasn't had until very late. Not knowing the area at all, McDonald's seemed like the only option. It turned out to be a very budget date night with free tickets and fast food to follow, but when you enjoy it as much as we did, that makes things even better!
