VlogmasBlogmas: #ChristmasBloggerGiveBack

And here it is.. our first very own blogger event! Having been to a few held by others and enjoyed them so much, we wanted to hold our own! Having one that stands out we found was quite difficult, however we were inspired by our visit to the cinema to see of all movies, 'A Street Cat Named Bob.'

If you haven't seen it or know what it's about, do check it out, but it basically made us want to do something to help out the homeless. There's also no better time of year to do this than at Christmas!

As bloggers who have such great opportunities, eat so much great food, and as most people, have a roof over our head, it is easy to forget how fortunate we are. We felt as though it was our time to give some of our fortune back to those without so much, and with the warmth and generosity of the blogging community, we felt we could make a difference.

With the help of our good friend, Ashlee Moyo (AshleeMoEvents), we organised this day to gather a small group of bloggers to first of all meet at Soho cake shop, Cutter & Squidge. It was here that Sanoobar generously handed over two big bags full of blankets and clothes, and everyone else rose money for our chosen charity, Centrepoint.

"Centrepoint is a charity in the United Kingdom, which provides accommodation and support to homeless people from 16 to 25. Its mission is to end youth homelessness and its vision is to get homeless young people into a home and a job."

The team at Cutter & Squidge accommodated us nicely, and gave little touches to ensure that our event started off in the smoothest fashion possible. The little plate with our hashtag on top of the cake that we bought for everyone was just one of many.

The cake was mostly eaten there and then, the rest was taken home, and some got drinks which as you can see, were absolutely extraordinary. We have been to this place a fair few times now, and if you haven't been, you are really missing out! Their cakes, biskies, and relaxing atmosphere make for a great place to stop and take a breather from the hectic streets of Soho.

We were particularly thrilled to finally meet Francesca Nelson, Katey Hayward and boyfriend Luke, who we have been in contact with via Twitter for a long time now! Katey and Luke made the special journey down from Manchester for the day, and the rest gathered from all corners of London.

Upon leaving Cutter & Squidge, we knew the day had only just begun as we took the walk to Winter Wonderland. A must in London at Christmas time, it is full of fun and great food to make sure that you are feeling the festive spirit.

As I, James went home to drop off the bags of blankets, Jessica grabbed herself some sweet potato fries and strolled around checking out the stands of games and rides. Sure enough, I was back but unfortunately not in enough time to say goodbye to Katey and Luke, who had their train to catch back up North.

However we gained another blogger in Kimberley, who made it in time to catch some Winter Wonderland action!

Still, we got our churros which is a tradition when we come here, rode on a carrousel, and even attempted archery! Finally, the rainy weather got the better of us and we all decided to go our separate ways. This safe in the knowledge that the day had been a success! We got to meet great people and raised a good amount of money for Centrepoint.

We do hope to be holding more events in the future, and we can certainly build on this one to make them bigger and better!

A massive thank you to everybody that came - we hope you had as much fun as we did and we hope to meet you again soon! A special mention to Katey Burton who donated very generously, and also Lisa for helping us to get very close to our £300 target!
