VLOG AT THE END OF POST
In our previous trip, we found out that the oldest coffee house in England stands in Oxford, which we managed to grab a coffee before we headed back, which you can read about here but what we knew we wanted to come back for as big Afternoon Tea lovers, was of course theirs!
As there are no reservation system for The Grand Cafe, we thought it would be best for it to be our first stop, as we had only had a muffin and pastry for our morning journey. We managed to find out way by walking, but before that, we came across a mount which we took a quick pit stop to do - it costed £1 each and we learnt a small part of the history of Oxford, as well as getting these lovely photos with the silhouette buildings from the fog.
We were lucky enough to get a cute corner table, as it is small inside, there are only a few tables available. Although it's called Afternoon TEA we both opted for a coffee. We ordered the High Tea (which is without the alcohol) which was £16.95 each.
The Afternoon Tea consisted of:
Free-range egg mayonnaise and smoked salmon and cream cheese finger sandwiches, two scones, strawberry jam, clotted cream and petite fours
Then we headed to the Natural History Museum and Pit Rivers Museum. These are the museums we really wanted to visit on our last trip here. We don't visit museums often, but it's such a lovely thing to do every now and then.
Of course we had to get a couple of selfies
Once we departed from Abbey, we headed in to Thaikum for some dinner. We were convinced by Abbey to come here once she suggested the curry she had from here and in that instance, I just knew it was what I wanted haha
We finished just in perfect time and even gave us 10 minutes spear when we reached the station, wish actually turned out for the best as our original train got cancelled and we literately jumped on an earlier train that was about to leave in 30 seconds. Got home a bit earlier than originally, which was perfect.
It had been such a lovely day in Oxford and meeting Abbey, we hope you enjoyed this post and makes you want to visit Oxford, don't forget to watch our vlog!

ReplyDeleteI love Oxford too, it looks like you crammed loads into one day and those photos of the buildings emerging out of the fog are glorious! Afternoon tea looks insane and made me so hungry hahaha.
Hope you had a wonderful day (it certainly looks that way!)

We did manage to do some much and we're glad but each time we go now, we always find another reason to go back! So that may be a plan in the making!
