Date Night: Alexandra Palace Fireworks Festival

Being in London we were spoilt for choice for what fireworks display and bonfire to go to this year. But we've heard great reviews of this one, and having been to the area a couple of times and really enjoyed it, we decided upon Alexandra Palace.

There was a day of the dead parade, ice rink, snd street food village, all culminating in a fantastic fireworks display. We gave the ice rink a miss as we plan to do this elsewhere as a date night in the not too distant future, but of course our first port of call was the food village.

So much to choose from, from pop dogs to tea and crumpets, but we ended up having beef gravy cheesy fries to share, a chorizo and jalapeΓ±o cheese grilled sandwich, more chips, and a hot chocolate! All were worth the lengthy queues and just what we needed to warm the cockles on a cold night.

With about half an hour until the display began, we headed to get a decent spot in the massive crowds to view the fireworks from. We knew that if we made our way in to the crowd too much, we may not get out of it until next year's display, so we stayed put fairly near the exit but close enough to get a fantastic view, film some footage and take these pictures. It was pretty extraordinary...

Once the display had finished, by no means had our night because we still needed to get home. With thousands of people wanting to get on one train line back into Central London, we decided to follow the "6 min walk" signs to Wood Green station (it took about half an hour). Only once we were there were we able to avoid the massive uber surcharges and get our trip home properly underway.

It was a fantastic night and of course on this week of the year would some sort of firework celebrations be our date night. Whether we can hack the London New Year's fireworks though is still to be decided!
