Brunch @ Mike's Cafe, Portobello Road

Today is the first Sunday in a very long time, that's we've actually had nothing to do - well, we did, we had a plan, but it wasn't something we had to go to, as in not booked or a scheduled event.

Although, we can't say that we even went ahead with our original plan. We started off with a lazy morning of waking up and falling back to sleep, waking up and falling back to sleep (okay you get the point) until it hit around 11am and I had a great brainwave to do some pre-filming for VlogmasBlogmas - we can't say anymore than that, we don't want to share too much now!

Once we were ready to fulfil our original plan, we decided to head out to grab some super late lunch but breakfast - so brunch but we were aiming for a proper Full English for Lunch and what better area to find the perfect spot but Portobello - meanwhile discussing with Rochelle, and found out we were going to cross paths, so we thought we'd meet up and eat together, along with her two sisters, Reece and Geneve.

Being in Portobello we were nattily drawn to coming back to Mike's Cafe, super cosy, reasonable prices and big portions, plus Rochelle hadn't been here before!

The service today was super slow, well up until ordering that it, but as Mike's Cafe is quite small, it tends to always be very busy but we were lucky to grab a table reasonably quickly and the food arrival wasn't too bad either.

Rochelle, her sisters and I all got the Special with Hash Browns, with either coffee or tea and James got the Big Boy, where you can pick 6 items from the list, along with orange juice and a coffee or tea.

The food did not disappoint and plates were cleared, except James' excessive chips (yes he had chips with his breakfast) but that shows how filling it is if even James leaves some food behind!

Also, I know this is so backwards, but before we had our Afternoon Breakfast, while walking towards Mike's Cafe we found this new shop called Happy Donuts and what we though would be "just a look" we ended buying a Pistachio Cronut for £3 which also came with a chosen coffee (we picked Latte) We will definitely be returning.

This spontaneous meal turned our day around and decided to do our original plan next Sunday and chill at Rochelle's house, while attempting to upload this weeks super late vlog! Wish us luck!

  1. Chips with breakfast, James?! What are you doing? Haha! Those fried eggs look really delicious, there's nothing worse than a fried egg with a solid middle! Happy Donuts looks great as well, and fairly reasonably priced! Anything with pistachio on goes down a treat with me!
