Dinner @ Five Guys - Ealing Broadway, London

Bacon cheeseburger with mushroom, jalapeños, relish and mayo - £8.75

Jessica has been at work today so left just before 9, whilst I finally got up about 10.30, as my interview wasn't until 2.

I left around 12 and it took about 40mins to get to Old Street. It felt strange being on the tube amongst all my other suited and booted people! I managed to get a quick Starbucks toastie and Cappucino and afterwards got this beauty when i decided to walk around Shoreditch, since I would only be sat by myself if I was to go home.

Rainbow bagel

I saw these on Instagram a while ago, so when I saw them through a bakery window whilst on my travels through Brick Lane, I sent a snap to Jessica and then of course I had to get one for her! I didn't fancy a whole one to myself, and that was a good decision - it was as expected - just strange!

I had been home since about 5 and met Jessica to come straight here, to Ealing Broadway for a dance rehearsal for Ayla's party which is tomorrow!

Just across the road is Five Guys so I fetched up the food once we were already inside. As well as writing this blog I am also uploading our baking video so watch out for that in about 40mins!

Dinner @ London

Chicken goujons with salad

There's no getting away from me for Jessica, and no getting away from us for you! I am back in London, just a day and a half after Jessica departed Sheffield, but I'm not just here because I miss her, I have an interview tomorrow, and this weekend has been planned for about a year - check back on Friday to hear all about why!

We also have planned a few very (very) nice meals planned at the weekend as if there wasn't enough going on already! As great as Sheffield is, it's going to be good to mix things up a little and give all you London folk something more interesting!

I arrived at 4.30 this afternoon, so had a little wait for Jessica to finish work, but when we did we headed straight to her Grandmas just for a regular visit, had a little small something there - Filipino food of course and then headed to one of Jessica's business duties (again, which you will find out on Friday), which is quite a walk from the house, but even longer when you have a 3 year old boy with you! As cute as Vincent is, it did take us a while!

But when we got back home, we had this dinner and watched Cheaper by the Dozen (no I haven't seen that one before either), while Jessica got on with her other work duties, and by then it was pretty late.

We've got a busy schedule until Friday, make sure to stay updated to find out why!

Lunch @ Depot Eatery - Burton Road, Sheffield

Depot Pie - chicken, mushroom and leek, served with salad - £5

After breakfast, we just got ready and cleaned up the house. As mentioned earlier, I had my little Skype call meeting for about an hour and once that was done, we headed straight out for lunch.

Soup - sweet potato, broccoli and chilli - £3.50

Once again, we are continuing our tour of the 21 best cups of coffee in Sheffield. It's crazy how we've only done 8, still have 13 to go. To be honest were not sure if we'll be able to complete this tour within the next few weeks we have left here in Sheffield but we're going to stay hopeful!

James - Latte - £2.50
Jessica - Mocha - 2.50

This place is exactly how you would imagine it, the name speaks for itself. They only serve food until 3, so we made it with good timing.

The toilets on the other hand, these toilets were not attached to the place, as it is in a warehouse place, you can imagine the toilets to be.. well, not great and they were not (hence the one star) but we won't hold that to them.

I have developed quite a love for soup recently, and haven't had a pie for ages! So this visit fulfilled all my cravings! The food was excellent and no wonder - it's the place that supplies food for Steam Yard. However we didn't think the coffee was as good but we  can't put our finger on why.

We did originally plan to finally have our lucky shake including doughnut after here but it's now closed, so we'll take a stroll around town and see where we end up!

Dinner @ Craft & Dough - Kelham Island, Sheffield

Piggy smalls - pulled pork, smoked streaky bacon, frazzles, tomato & mozzarella - £9
Skinny fries with herd salt - £2 / with Parmesan £2.50

This afternoon, we hadn't done much, due to the fact I was horrible pain for hours! I would like to think I have a high tolerance of pain, so for me to be asking for paracetamol, is a big deal, but didn't help at all. I felt so bad for James, as he could have been doing so much more with his time :(

Eventually, I tired myself out of crying in pain, I fell asleep and woke up good as new (kind of) so I rushed to shower get ready to head out for dinner before it started all over again.

Garlic bread with mozerella - £3.50

So, from James' birthday, due to the mix up we had that night, the waiter kindly gave us a stamped loyalty card for a free pizza, although the it was just one but it was a nice gesture for something that wasn't nessecarily his fault and tonight we decided to use it.

Although there is a craft and dough practically a 2 minute walk from James' current place, we thought it would be good to visit the other branch by where he used to live last year, for old times sake.

James - Perry Vale Pear Cider - £4.80
Jessica - Mango Cider - £4.30

Ever since the first time we came here, we fell in love with craft and dough, the food and drinks are just so affordable, the vibe is great - it's just good stuff all round!

Dinner @ Wig & Pen - Campo Lane, Sheffield

Beer battered fish of the day - chunky chips, crushed peas, tartar sauce and lemon - £9
Onion rings - £2.50

After brunch (we should actually call it dinner) but to be fair, we did think we was going to have lunch, but as you can see, we had not, well anyway, after we decided to go on one of our random drives to anywhere the wind takes us, since the weather was looking good - sun out, windows down yes!

We ended up by this random garden thing somewhere, had a little stroll and came back home.

In decided wether to have lunch or not, we wrote up a big food shopping list that will fulfil our planned meal weekend - including some baking stuff in there, so look out for that! Took and hour to write up the list and another to complete our shopping.

Although we said we was completely organised with our meals, sometimes things like this happen and sometimes we are just not hungry, so we had to swap some plans from other days etc and this is where we ended up - another Independant Sheffield inspired restaurant!

Jessica - Cosmopolitan - vodka citing, triple sec, cranberry, lime, gomme - £4.50
James - Classic Mojito - Havana blanco, lime, mint, sugar - £4.50

It's funny that we've never noticed this place before since being so close to it last year, from the outside, it just looks like your typical pub. It wasn't as busy as we expected it to be, but we still booked a table just in case since we have plans after.

At first, I felt it lacked in welcome as I walked in confused not knowing where to go or who I should ask, but once we were see to we were taken to the far corner where other people were sat, where there was more of an atmosphere.

Once again, since we can't have meat - we obviously went for the fish and chips, we did talk about this the other day about the time we had it in Brighton and had never had it in Sheffield, plus 50% off with your Independant Sheffield card, can't really go wrong with that now, can you?

Although, we did think the batter could have been crispier, the peas should have been more mushy and the tartar sauce a bit less oniony - but I guess that's down to our own preference. The chips were great, we do our potatoes in all forms!

I won't lie, I was disappointed, I wouldn't say I would come back for dinner again but I think it would be a great place to have a drink at with some friends.

After dinner, we will be heading out to the cinema to watch "how to be single", weird film to watch with your boyfriend I know, but I promise he doesn't mind!

Brunch @ Homemade by Thelma's - Nether Edge Road, Sheffield

Jessica - smoked salmon, watercress and cream cheese, served with a dressed garden salad - £5.50

Happy Easter weekend everyone! If you follow us on Twitter, you would already know I arrived in Sheffield last night at 11pm. As I work office hours, I am lucky to have this long 4 day weekend to spend with James.

Also, by following us on Twitter you would also know James and I gave up eating crisps this Lent (we are both Christians, but not exactly religious, but we thought we would do it together), so coming home last night to the box of 40 packets of walkers crisps we bought over a month ago was great, along with heaps of Easter eggs from James' family and my requested Krispy Creme doughnuts! You can tell it's going to be a fattie weekend!

Leek, potato and Stilton soup with warm ciabatta - £4

Since last weekend we lacked in content, we decided to be super organised and plan all meals.

So we thought to start off this morning with the continuation of our 21 best cups of coffee in Sheffield tour. Since we follow Independent Sheffield on Instagram, we had been inspired to visit Ink & Water today, but unfortunately they are closed this Easter weekend.

We then planned to go into town and settle for Patisserie Valerie, but it wouldn't have been the same. So, we jumped back in the car and ended up on the other side and oh how glad we did!

James - Brie, spinach and chilli jam quesadilla - a toasted, filled, flour tortilla served with salads from the specials board - £6.75

As we walked in, I noticed the Independeant Sheffield sticker on the window, which is the first time I've seen one and it was just nice to see that welcome.

We sat ourselves down and were seen to quickly and of course we ordered our coffees first (duh the purpose), James and I agreed to get something a little more different than our usual Mocha and Latte, James couldn't go that far with his chooses but I went for a Chai Latte, which o didn't actually think I would like but I enjoyed it greatly.

Jessica - Chai Latte - £2.40
James - Cappucino - £2.30

As it is Good Friday, we are not meant to eat meat and as we did Lent, we thought we should follow through with this weekend.

We agreed on sharing the soup I spotted on the specials board and got our own separate main meals - the food was nicely presented and worth the price. The soup was bigger than expected and so good! Notice them rating stars - so far the second place we've ever given that to!

James commented on how the atmosphere was how you would expect a place like this is named - he felt it was homely, as if we were eating in someone's kitchen, which was the vibe we felt they were giving off.

The staff were all smiley and friendly, we will defiantly be back to try more from the menu!

Dinner @ The Anchorage - West One, Sheffield

Philly cheesesteak - sub with beef round, provolone, onion, mushroom, pepper - £8.00
Sweet potato fries - £3.00 - Jessica

Just down the road from Taco Bell is West One, a plaza with great restaurants and accommodation, and surprisingly somewhere where we have never eaten before.

New York Deli - bagel with pastrami, emmental, mustard, Mayo gherkin - £6.00
Fries - £2.50 - James

This is one of the places, and features on Independent Sheffield, and we get 20% off here with the ISCard. So it was a must that we came here eventually. Jessica booked it online earlier although it turned out that there was no need as it was pretty quiet.

Pinot Grigio Rose Sereno - £3.80
Strawberry fields - £6.50

And then came dessert... Jessica spent at least 2 minutes explaining what a cannelloni was only for this to land on the table! This was definitely not what she thought it was! But she ain't crazy, apparently there are s few different cannelloni's in this world (no it's not pasta either!) It wasn't or meant to be filling, but it was a very nice way to end the meal.

Mango cannelloni - pineapple granita, pineapple purée, prosecco foam - £5.50

We now have about half an hour before Jessica's train. Please check out this weeks video which is the Dress Up Challenge (nooooooo!!) Jessica will be back on Thursday as it's Easter Weekend, so we promise to make up for having such few posts this weekend!

Nachos @ Taco Bell - Division Street, Sheffield

Nachos supreme - £3.39

I can only apologise for the lack of posts today! I had work from 10-5, which just leaves us with dinner to blog about. But Jessica did have the time to edit and upload this weekends video which is now up on YouTube.

We had a bit of time before our booking at 6.45, and I hadn't eaten since this morning. So we came here to fill a hole and that it certainly did!

Check back very very soon for our actual dinner post!

Coffee @ Hotel Chocolat Roast & Conch, Boar Lane, Leeds

Coffee chocolate - £3.50 - James
Iced coffee - £2.75 - Jessica

After Zizzi we headed straight to Victoria Quarter (the posh shopping mall), and went in to Ted Baker to spend my birthday gift cards from my Mum, Dad and Grandma.

I wasn't exactly planning on spending all of it, but I did, the whole £200 - on a jacket, shirt and a nice new pair of socks! It came to a grand total of £11.65 - what a day!!

We tried and failed to find Jessica some leggings, and ended up roaming around hoping to find something interesting. We didn't - and this is why we plan - and why we should've done today too!

To be fair, we did originally plan to go to Roxy Ball Room for nibbles and to play ping pong, but we were without ID, so we plan to return before too long.

But we did end up here - Hotel Chocolat. I've never seen them have a restaurant anywhere else so we thought to try it out. There chocolate is amazing so we had high expectations, but we were a tad disappointed. The iced coffee was a bit strange, and mine wasn't anything special. But we did look in envy at the next tables drinks, so maybe we just made bad choices.

After here we walked back to the car and got home to watch the Wolf of Wall Street and Saturday Night Takeaway. We stopped at Tesco on the way and bought soup and garlic bread to eat whilst watching.

Lunch @ Zizzi, The Light, Leeds

Garlic bread with mozzarella & caramelised balsamic onions - James

Being the organised people we are, we booked to come here straight after parking up when we got here about 2pm.

We have been here once before but in Bristol, and we thought it was about time we came back, as last time was great! I also came to the restaurant in Sheffield recently with work colleagues, again another great visit!

Bruschetta - confit baby plum tomatoes on warm, garlic-brushed bread, topped with riserva cheese, smoked garlic oil & basil - Jessica

So when we saw there was a weekend menu offering 3 courses for £15.95, we took the opportunity!

Ravioli Di Capra - goats cheese & spinach ravioli with a tomato sauce, super green pesto & pine nuts - James

This morning we had a bit of a lie in, recorded this weekends video, had a cheeky McDonald's and then set off. It was an hours drive from home in Sheffield.

Porcini giganti tortelloni - giant tortelloni pockets filled with ricotta & porcini mushrooms in a creamy wild mushroom sauce with baby spinach, crispy sage & riserva cheese - Jessica

After some struggle and unexpectedly finding ourselves in some one way back alleys, we made it to a car park, which ended up being about 10 mins from the restaurant.

Chocolate melt - hot, gooey chocolate pudding served with vanilla gelato - James

Zizzi gelato - 3 scoops (coconut & mango swirl - honey, sea salt & mascarpone - strawberry sorbet) - Jessica

After here we have no definite plans, but there's a good chance we will just randomly explore and do a bit of shopping.
