Dinner @ London

Kare kare - oxtail with beef brisket, banana blossom, long beans, aubergine in peanut based sauce

The calm before the storm - with the whole family about to come round, we got the first pick of the food!

I've never tried this Filipino dish before, but I actually really enjoyed it. Everyone is bringing their own cooking later, so I'm sure we'll be eating again shortly!

I'm really happy to be spending New Year with Jessica after not being able to last time. And we'll make sure to get those fireworks tickets for next year and spend it with just us two.

Happy New Year everybody! Thank you for all your support with the blog since it's launch, we have plenty of exciting plans for next year so keep checking the blog, Twitter and our new Instagram account!

Cake pops @ London

Almond cake pops - with white chocolate and almond slices

Jessica's sister Charlyn got a cake pop maker for her birthday, but we couldn't wait for her to use it to eat them, so we stole it and them ourselves mwahaha!

Coffee and chocolate cake pops - with chocolate sprinkles

It was actually really easy to make the mix and they only took 5-7 minutes to bake in the maker.

We're not quite sure how we came about deciding to do this. We weren't sure how to spend our afternoon after being unable to get tickets for the New Year's fireworks, so instead we are spending it at home with the family.

Brunch @ Golborne Deli, Golborne Road

Jessica - Eggs Benedict - two poached eggs, crispy pancetta, avocado mash, hemp seeds with hollandaise sauce & rocket on toasted English muffin - £8.95

Today we planned a lazy morning and to come out for brunch at 11. However that plan became scuppered when we woke up at 11.45 soooo yeah... we ended up getting here for 1pm.

James - Big Breakfast - scrambled eggs, tomatoes, baked beans, veggie balls, crispy pancetta, sausage, toasted ciabatta - £8.95

I've been following @breakfastlondon on Instagram for a while now and it all looks amazing! So we decided to find somewhere near to walk to for brunch. There were three places on Golborne Road, two of which were closed, so we came here. We still plan to go to those places soon.

Dinner @ Wasabi (takeaway), Piccadilly Circus

The Rainbow Set - £7.49

After dessert we went just around the corner to Las Vegas Arcade and played pool. We haven't played since our holiday where Jessica disgracefully won! So we had unfinished business. I won the first game and was on the cusp of thrashing in the second before I watched the black trickle in! Jessica hadn't pocketed any and I did all but one - I was genuinely gutted! So it ended in a draw, but I always win for having Jessica there in the first place! Awwww I'm cute!

On our way home, we were waiting to become hungry again as Jessica was feeling for Sushi. But I was still full. So we decided to takeaway from Wasabi on Piccadilly Circus and eat it at home.

We ate this whilst watching The Intern.

Jessica - White tea with lychee & peace - £2.70
OMG it's green dream cake - £4.70

James - White tea with pomegranate- £2.70
Almond, cherry and raspberry dream cake - £4.70

So this was another planned visit because this place is how we settle our bets haha! If we ever have a bet, it's always "you owe me a slice of cake or biskie from Cutter & Squidge!" We take our bets very seriously okay! (I'm not joking)

So I owed Jessica two biskies - for her getting the winner of X Factor right. Damn you Che Chesterman! And the cake was for not talking to her! (I did, but she's a Princess soooo...)

Salted caramel smoore Biskie - £3.50
Strawberry cheesecake Biskie - £3.50 (take away)

We normally don't come anywhere more than twice, but here has to be an exception, we'll be back time and time again without doubt!

Onion rings - big and fluffy - £3.50

Hey it's James! Sorry I've been away, been caught up in all the festivities! But I'm back, and back in London!

Today I arrived earlier than usual, at 2.39. Jessica thought she was hilarious by creeping up behind me and scaring me haha, it's even on Snapchat! Sigh!

We had planned to come straight here for lunch after seeing it recommended in this book 👇

Jessica's work colleagues bought it her for Christmas. I'm sure it will come in very handy!

The food was so messy but in the best way possible! It was so good and we were so full. But we shall not stop here... on our way straight to Cutter and Squidge for dessert...

Dinner @ London

Turkey with stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, pigs in blankets, mash potatoe, boiled carrots, Brussels sprouts and red cabbage.

And dinner is served - an early Christmas dinner / early birthday dinner for Rochelle- cooked by James & I for us and Rochelle & Chloe!

When we got home, we were so behind in time, that they arrived before dinner was ready, but it wasn't that much of a wait, I hope.

Chloe and Rochelle actually said they weren't expecting such a meal - Chloe thought I was ordering pizza haha

We also exchanged Christmas presents for each other - not for James, sorry not sorry!

Profiteroles with milk and white chocolate

There was dessert too, sadly not one I had made, which was my original plan, but clearly didn't have enough time.

It was a successful evening and I'm glad we got to have such a great time before Christmas, hopefully we'll do it again soon!

Jessica - Classic pad Thai - rice noodle, king prawn, dried shrimp, totu, egg, peanut and beansprout - £8.95
Strawberry colard - £3.50

This was our first meal of the day and it's already 5:30, okay, I know it's bad bcus we are going to have dinner soon and should actually be making our way back home to start the prep work - but it's okay - food always comes first.

James - Songkhla red curry - slow-cooked beef, cherry tomato and banana pepper - £10.95
Jasmine smoothie - £3.30

I've been so boring lately with trying new things in places we've already been - but James on the other hand - props to him, getting something spicy as well!

We're already behind schedule for this dinner, that I had to ask some help from my sister sigh

Ted Baker's grooming room @ Ted Baker & Moore, Shoreditch

James and I had a very lazy morning, I think it was well deserved since we couldn't do it over the past few days due to me working, but it did cause a struggle with time as Shoreditch was about less than an hour away and we had to be back by a certain time to cook dinner to be served at 8pm

By the time we got to Shoreditch, we didn't want to waste any time, so we headed straight to Ted Baker & Moore, luckily is wasn't busy, so James was sat quickly.

This was a part of James' Christmas present - along with a duffle bag I bought him after, also from Ted Baker - as a weekend bag from when he comes to London and for him to use casually for when he goes out or to work.

This gift card included a hair cut and a shave or design of his beard - I particularly like James' beard and so does he, so we went for a design, rather than him getting it all off.

Of course I had to get myself a Christmas present too, and a little photo shoot for myself - I needed a photo for my Instagram haha

Dinner @ Vapiano's, Oxford Street

Jessica - Carbonara - Bacon, onions, egg and cream - £8.75
Coke - £2.25

After a long walk from Hyde Park to the end of Oxford Street, it took us a while to get our food and find a seat - I love Vapiano's but it is so not a first date kind of place. Our feet were already hurting from all that walking and doing but Vapiano's was going to make it all better.

This has also became a tradition, as James pointed out we did this last year as well, but I believe the other way around - vaps first and then winter wonderland?

James - Salmone - Salmon fillet, crème fraiche, cream, cherry tomatoes, white wine, rocket - £10.25
Vapiano's Iced Tea - Green Tea with lemon prickly pear - £3.75

All this food has made us tired, but we're going to go to sainsbury's to buy the food for tomorrow's dinner.

Mixed fries @ Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park

How could we deny free food!? - as mentioned before, my cousin worked there, so he hooked us up with some fries - we only got a small one to share as  we were already full from the first batch (we didn't take a picture of) and the Churros.

Another thing we were surprised with was, okay, this part is really cheeky and sneaky but oh well, we managed to get into rides for free because my cousin and his colleague allowed us to use their staff badge to get on the rides. Whoop it worked, we didn't go on much and to be fair, we are not big fans of roller coasters. It was a good experience to have together though!

Shout of to my cousin!

Churros @ Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park

Churros with white chocolate - £5

Churros is the main thing I come for in winter wonderland and it's becoming more a tradition, as we got the exact some thing last year when we first came.

You will not understand the struggle that we went through to find a churro stand that served white chocolate! Ugh, it started raining in all sorts, nearly lost hope tbh but at that last string of hope, we found one! Just in time for our slot for The Magical Ice Kingdom at 6pm.

The Magical Ice Kingdom - £10 each
Book in advance online - £3 booking fee

As you could have guessed, it was freezing cold! But actually worth it, it was really nice and interesting to see these sculptures made out of ice and snow - plus it was something different, as we saw the circus last year.

We took and bought the typical professional souvenir photos we took on the ice thrones and even lined up for 20 minutes to go down a very short ice slide, so with it though haha

Lunch @ Mike's Cafe, Portobello Road

Jessica - Lamb chops served with mint sauce on the side - with mash potato and vegetables - £8.45
Apple juice - £1.95

Tuesday morning - as mentioned in yesterday's post - I also worked 9 to 1 today, James woke up later than planned, so he didn't end up doing any uni work, so instead he went to portobello to pick up on of my Christmas presents he had ordered.

James - Gammon & Eggs - Gammon steak served with two eggs of your choice (fried) and fries - £10.95
Apple juice - £1.95

James ended up being super early to pick me up from work, but we were currently moving some stuff around, but I managed to get James in the last few minuets and he got to meet my work colleagues.

Went straight home, as I wanted to shower and wash my hair, then we headed straight out for lunch, as we had exciting plans for after 4! Winter wonderland! I say after 4 because my cousin works there and we would have gotten free food😊

Jessica - Homemade apple crumble served with custard - £3.50

Although we've been to Mike's cafe before - we absolutely loved it the first time, it's small and cosy, clearly family friendly and it just has such good vibes.

We decided to get something different than what we had last time, and of course we wasn't disappointed!

James - Warm fudge cake served with cream - £3.50

Ugh so good! But now, off to winter wonderland we go!

Dinner @ TGI Friday's, Leicester Square

Starter - Times Square Big Share - Jack Daniel's chicken wings, loaded bacon potato skins and mozzarella dippers. Served with sour cream, Jack Daniel's glaze and tomato & basil mariara sauce - £16.29

Monday morning - I still had work, luckily, I managed to get today and tomorrow half days, so I worked from 9 to 1. In the time I was working, James also got up to do his uni work, so st least he has something to do too.

Jessica's main - 8oz sirloin steak with a choice of one sauce and two sides: jack Daniel's glaze, creamy mash and chips- £17.49
Haymarket - ABSOLUTE Raspberri and apple liquor with fresh orange, raspberries and a touch of sugar - £7.80

After work, got home to freshen up and planned to go to the 2:50 cinema screening to watch 'Sisters' with James, Charlyn and Alyssa.

Before heading to Westfield, we had to stop by my grandmas, so James could say hello and to drop off the Christmas present we got her (we did all out Christmas shopping together this year)

James' main - French Dip Burger - Caramelized onions, melted on Swiss cheese and garlic mayo. Served with a rich beef sauce and crispy fries - £12.99
Peroni - £4.50

We didn't realise the time and we were already behind schedule, but none of us hadn't eaten yet - so of course we went to get some chips at George's - the most famous chip shop in the West - although, sadly the owner of how many years passed away a few days before.

Cheese double layered nachos - Corn tortilla chips topped with melted cheese, chilles and jalapeños. Served with Friday's spicy guacamole, fresh pico de gallo and sour cream - £9.79

After the cinema, we looked around Westfield for a bit, as we had a booking reservation in TGI Fridays at 6:45 in Leicester Square. Charlyn chose this place for her meal as she had never been here before - little did she know, they did the whole embarrassing birthday singing MWAHAHHA

Charlyn, Alyssa and mum all had the same main - Half rack Jack Daniel's Ribs -Dusted with Cajun spices and coated in Jack Daniel's glaze. Severed with onion rings and crispy fries - £12.99

Shout out to our waiter, Hector, who gave great customer service, always topped up our drinks without us asking, clearing and serving at the right times - made James jealous from all my comments about him haha

It was a great evening and to top it all off, they made Charlyn stand up in front of everyone and sang happy birthday to her! The cake was really nice too!

Lunch @ London

Tuna and sweetcorn pasta - made by Jessica

Yay James is in London! James arrived just after 2pm, so on his arrival, I made a quick bite to eat - nothing special, just something simple. There's not much to it tbh but yeah.

We didn't have any plans for today, so we just had a relaxed day in, watched a film on my laptop - The Vow, although I have seen it many times before, but why not make your boyfriend watch a soppy chick flick with you.

In the evening, some of my family members came round for my sisters birthday (which is tomorrow) - just to see her, have our family gathering and eat of course. Funny enough, not much drinking going on either.

So, James and I just stayed in the living room with everyone and socialised as he hadn't been in London for a while.

Christmas Dinner @ Sheffield

My housemates were making Christmas dinner for everyone tonight (because we're cute haha). We went all out with the traditional turkey, stuffing, roast potatoes, red cabbage, Yorkshire pudding, pigs in blankets, sprouts and carrots. There was also chocolate log and ice cream for dessert. In full festive spirit, we had the tunes on and everyone was pulling Christmas Crackers.

The two girls in the house, Emily and Issy oversaw proceedings, and did an absolute amazing job with it!

There wasn't much time to relax and digest afterwards though as Jessica had her train at the normal time of 8.26. As i now had the car with me I was able to drive her there, which saved a bit of time in getting the bus and walking there.

We now have a seven day gap until I come down to London for the final time before Christmas. We already have some very exciting plans in place which I can't wait for.

Lunch @ McDonald's, Hyde

After travelling home after the gig last night, we planned to set off back to Sheffield at 10am so we had most of the day to spend together. However, we didn't wake up until 9.50, that didn't happen haha. In the end we left at around 12.

We hadn't had lunch by the time we left, and by about half way there we had developed a bit of an appetite, so stopped over at McDonald's Drive Thru. To be honest, we're having a bit of a cheap-skate day haha, we used the deal on the back of our bus tickets to have a burger and fries for £1.99. So we had one of them each and shared a strawberry milkshake.

After our lunch we had the final stretch of the journey which included the Snake Pass. The views are incredible and it's a lot of fun to drive there. It was unfortunate the weather was so poor so we couldn't enjoy the full beauty of it. We recorded the whole journey on the GoPro. The video is currently being edited by Jessica, so look out for that in the next couple of days!

Starbucks @ Manchester Piccadilly station

*apologises in advance for the lack of picture*

When it was time, I dropped James off to the venue and made my way back to the station where I began my wait.

I decided to sit in Starbucks, got my white chocolate mocha and opened up my book.

Side note: I started this book back in September just after our holiday and I've been slacking badly, I say due to the lack of interest, only because I've seen the film before hand and I already knew what was going to happen, although the ending is completely different and so much better. So I was happy I finally finished it!

To be fair, reading the book kept me occupied for a while, before I knew it I only had an hour left to wait.

After reading, I didn't do much, just went through my phone and watched everyone's snapchats, and all that jazz.

Story time: Half an hour before I was meant to leave, a man sat next to me, charged his phone, all the normal stuff and then fell asleep - fine, then suddenly, he woke up and walked away tugging on his charger. Didn't think anything of it and at this point I thought I'd get up an walk around for the last bit of my wait. It seemed as if I was following him but I wasn't and eventually didn't see him again. I was confused and a bit worried, so 20 mins later, I went back to Starbucks and realised his bag and charger was still there and no sign of him. I think he was drunk and as it was a station, I raised my concern with a barista in Starbucks and left. Weird right? Ugh being there was weird anyway, a hell of a lot of drunk people.

I started walking and reasonably slow, to pass more time but it was so cold! Got there just as soon as people started leaving but of course James took his wet time to come out, then eventually found each other and got in his dad's car to then start our drive to Chester.

Dessert @ TGI Friday's, Manchester Piccadilly station

From lunch, we were stuffed, like seriously full, I didn't actually finish my food - it was that deep.

We finished lunch quite late, we walked around more, and went into the shopping mall, looked into a few shops and I bought a little something for someone while I was there.

Then before we knew it, it was a decent enough time to start making our way back to the station, which was closer to the venue than where were already, so it was easier to locate and depart from each other.

Before James had to leave, we had enough time and by then enough space to share a dessert (obvs) and had a hot drink to settle us from the cold (James complain about his Luke warm latte, that is why it is not in the picture) haha

It was raining badly and we didn't actually have a motive. We walked around for a bit, went into the centre on Manchester and took it from there.

We ended up going cinema before this meal - I wanted to watch 'sisters' but for some reason it wasn't on show in the cinema we was at - do we ended up watching 'the night before' - it was hilarious.

Then for lunch, as you see in the pictures, we went to Chiquito's, as James hadn't been here before.

Originally, we was going to get the sharing platter and then one main to share, but the more we looked at the menu, the hungrier we got haha

Although, my eyes were bigger than my stomach today because I didn't even finish my food🙈 obviously I finished the guacamole though!

5AM START! This morning, I woke up at 5am to reach my 7.20am train to Manchester. Meeting James on a Saturday? Not our usual, but this was an exception, we wasn't meant to see each other this weekend, but as the people we are, we thought why the hell not.

Why Manchester? Well, the original reason why we didn't plan to see each other was because James is going to a gig today in the evening with his dad, here in Manchester.

Yes, yes, that did mean I was alone again but we'll get to that later.

James and I met around 9ish at Manchester (tried to get there roughly the same time) James did get there 20 mins or so before we and on my arrival, I had Starbucks coffee and a bacon bun waiting for me!

*story to be continued on the next post*

Back to the food, as mentioned I lurrrrrv me some nachos, so of course we had to get the sharing platter one, along with the normal salsa and sour cream, along with these we was allowed to pick an extra topping, there was a few options. There was one that sounded jbteresting but weird, so I asked about it and the waitress suggested to get it, and so we did! Great decision, the cranberry and chorizo really complimented each other and it didn't taste as odd as it sounds haha

Dinner @ Taco Bell - Ecclesall Road, Sheffield

As you can tell from the lack of posts today, no breakfast or lunch posts - we didn't do much due to timing.

This morning James and I just had toast with banana slices and a drizzle of honey.

As mentioned previously, James was working between 12 to 5pm. Today, I dropped him off to work, and I stayed in Mediwhall, dos a bit of shopping, took me a while to find some shoes I wanted - finally something not trainers and got some Christmas presents for my friends.

Today, I decided not to eat at pizza express as I wasn't that hungry, so I just got a little something from the food court and left around 2.30.

Once I got to the house, I cleaned up the room - I started to feel a bit sickly, so I ended taking a nap and before I knew it James had finished work.

My train was at 8.28, so it didn't leave us much time from when James arrived home at 6 and needing to leave at 7.45, so we decided to have dinner somewhere close and what's closer than Taco Bell!?
