Dinner @ Pizza Express - Meadowhall, Sheffield

Jessica had been debating whether to go back home whilst I was at work, or stay and do some shopping and maybe eat at Pizza Express. I need a bottle opener for work, and every time so far i've had to borrow one or bring the one that people share in my house. So Jessica being the darling that she is, trekked around trying to find one for me for an hour and a half! But couldn't find one that didn't do a million other things. Other than that she sat in Starbucks and sat in the food court area reading the book she had bought from Waterstone's.
And then at around 8.15, she got to my work, and sat in the corner hoping that not many people would notice she was eating alone. Luckily it was quite quiet so i got chances to go over and talk to her.
She decided on the Pollo Pesto, but was not happy that some of it was burnt. To be fair this isn't good! The chef had a joke about how dare she complain, but offered her a free drink to apologise. When i finished at 9 i sat with Jessica to eat my free pizza, and shared with her the Chocolate Glory dessert.

Breakfast @ Sheffield

We've both been following @symmetrybreakfast on Instagram for a while now, and we've always said we would give it a go ourselves, and today was that day. We wanted to start off with something quite simple (if you have a look at their account you will realise that most of it is not simple at all), and hopefully we can do more of this in the future.

We had a salad with tomatoes and avocado, bacon, poached eggs and toast, along with fresh orange juice.

We did this just before my sister Olivia came to visit as she was going to see One Direction at Sheffield Arena in the evening. When she got here we wandered around the shops in the centre, and Olivia bought a Pandora charm with a voucher she got for her birthday. We had a quick drink in Marks & Spencer cafe, and it was time for Olivia to meet her friends to go to the concert. Jessica and I went off to Meadowhall as I had to work again. We got there just in time! We left it a bit late getting there!

Lunch @ Jack's Cafe, Queens Park

Today Jessica had to go to work, and as I am not leaving to go back to Sheffield until tomorrow morning, it gave me the chance to do my blogging and also do some university work at home.
As there was no food at home, I suggested going back to Jack's cafe for lunch which is a 5 minute walk from her work. It started off as a joke, but we should've known better - we don't joke about food!
One of the waiter's recognised us from last time, and joked with us about that I thought that Bannoffee was banana and coffee, not toffee. And as I made a mistake with the order this time as well, he must think I'm a complete dope now haha!
The timing ended up being just right for Jessica to go back to work an hour later.

Dinner @ Yoshi Sushi, Hammersmith

This evening we were very kindly invited out to dinner with Uncle Oliver, along with Charlyn, John and Nevaeh. It was time for me to continue my chop stick training, at Yoshi Sushi.

When we first got there, we were told to take our shoes off, and sit at the booth at the back of the restuarant. Strange (for me at least), but it was made up for with heated flooring and heated seats. This was a new experience!

The restaurant manager was able to recommend a number of items that we could all share based on an agreed budget. I may have had sushi a few times now, but I still don't know what most of the food is called! I just eat what's put in front of me!

We wanted to walk around and evaluate our options, as we knew that we would want to eat everything otherwise! Eventually we decided to share a beef burrito and a mix of pesto, and cheese & mushroom ravioli.

After we ate, we spotted somewhere with this cute and delicious looking pineapple juice - so we got it.

Late Breakfast @ The Cereal Killer Cafe, Brick Lane

Today we decided to head out to Shoreditch, the main reason being to go here - The Cereal Killer Cafe. Due to rail engineering works, it took us over an hour to get here (yes over an hour for a bowl of cereal haha), but it was no ordinary bowl of cereal.

They sell British, American and global cereal brands and offer such a large variety of milks, as well as toast, pop tarts, hot and cold drinks, and also cereal cocktails.

We wanted to make the most of the journey we had made to get here, so we walked around the markets, and of course, experienced Shoreditch's famous street food. See our next post to find out what we had!

Dinner @ Square Pie, Westfield

We both really enjoyed the cinema, and although it's never nearly the same than actually being at the concert, it was the closest we were going to get to reliving such a fantastic night!

Afterwards, we were still pretty full from The Breakfast Club (and some cheeky nacho's at the cinema) so we decided to share a pie from the food court at Westfield.

Once home, we watched the first two Back to the Future movies, as I somehow had never seen them, and being the McFly fan that I am, this was a disgrace haha! It was also just a few days after the date they travelled to in the second movie.

When we last came here, we both had the All American Breakfast (which was amazing), so this time we wanted to try out what else they offered to see if it was as good, and it did not disappoint!

Dinner @ Nando's - Ecclesall Road, Sheffield

So, once again, James had work today between 12 and 5pm. So, I had lunch on my own, again nothing special - just had a sandwich and a crap load of junk food.

Side note: I should probably get into making proper food for myself when James is away but it's not the same!

Again, James has his pizza and I did eat late - so we wanted to go for something light and close, due to the fact my train was at 8.30pm, travelling was not an option.

This weekend has seemed to fly by and it didn't help that James was working both days but it's the price we have to pay for him to earn more money and for me to see him. It's hard enough as it is, but it's for the best of our future together.

Luckily, he'll be in London next weekend until Tuesday morning!

Nachos @ Sheffield

Due to James being at work from 5 to 9 - I was left to have dinner on my own sigh - nothing special and nothing worth taking a picture of. I just had a salad with some KFC spicy wings haha it was a balanced diet, in my defence!

Also, after every shift, James gets free pizza from his work - so that would have been his dinner anyway, but obviously we couldn't go without not eating together! So we decided to make nachos, for the love of my guacamole!

So, before James came home, I started prepping and did the main cooking part when he arrived so it was still fresh and hot!

All ingredients and instructions on how I created the nachos - everything on italic is what we did/used instead of instructed.

Super Nachos

Ingredients:

2 bags corn tortilla chips in 2 colors or different flavors - we used cool and lightly salted flavours.

Place tortilla chips around/in a oven safe tray, place grated cheese on top and place in the grill to melt the cheese.

Salsa:

- 4 tomatoes, seeded and chopped
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped, for medium to hot heat level - we bought a jar of chopped ones and used as many as we wanted
- 1 small white onion, chopped
2 handfuls, parsley leaves, finely chopped
- salt and pepper

Chop all ingredients and mix together in a bowl. Leave on the side.

Guacamole:

- 2 avocados
- juice from one lime
- salt and pepper

Squash avocados and mix in the ingredients in a bowl. Leave on the side.

Mince beef topping:

- 1 packet of mince beef
- 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 1/2 teaspoon of dark chilli powder
- 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped - we bought a jar of chopped ones and used as many as we wanted
- 1 teaspoon of salt

Heat up a pan, put the extra virgin olive oil. Fry the garlic, onion and jalapeño pepper. Add in the mince and cook throughout - adding the salt, pepper and chilli powder.

When cooked, place on top of the melted cheese, add the salsa and guacamole on the sides and add more cheese on top!

Side note: the second James helped, he messed up - all I told him to do was out the chips and cheese in the grill to melt the cheese - 1. He closed the door and 2. He forgot about it and burnt it

Boys boys boys - useless hahaha joking!

Lunch @ Sheffield

For lunch, we decided to stay in and cook. James had work at 5, so we didn't want to risk him going out and not making it back on time.

I am a fan of avocado! So, a healthy avocado pasta sounded great - especially after all that Taco Bell and cake last night!

As we ate, we caught up with X factor. After eating and watching, we decided to go to the shopping centre an hour or so before James' shift to buy some clothes for me to leave at his and stuff - also to learn the route to and from his work for future references.

PLEASE NOTE: James & I did things slightly different to the instructions below, as we didn't have a blender and added some bits and bobs. I will explain everything we did - but the actual recipe we attempted to follow is below.

First things first, I used the type of pasta I preferred to use and because of my love for avacados, I put in 2 instead of 1 and of course adjusted the oil and lemon juice to the ratio of avocados.

We did not have a blender, so it wasn't a smooth as we wanted, but I personally think we did a good enough job squashing it with a fork! As it wasn't smooth, when adding the water, it didn't look great but it worked out on the end.

As you can see in the picture, we added tomatoes, that was actually James' idea, as he saw it in other avacado pasta pictures we found and to be fair, it complimented the avacado very well.

Avacado Pasta

Ingredients:
1/2 pound of pasta
1 large avocado
1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper for taste

Instructions:
1. Boil pasta as instructed on the packet in salted water - DO NOT drain the water after the pasta is done, as you will need some for the avocado sauce
2. Meanwhile, in a blender, place the avocado halves, olive oil, lemon juice and Parmesan cheese and pulse together
3. When blended, add in 1/2 - 3/4 cups (drain the rest) of the pasta cooking water until smooth. Add salt and pepper is needed.
4. Combine the pasta and avocado sauce together and serve with extra Parmesan on top.

I don't care that's it late, this is what we do, together, we eat! It was so worth trekking for and carrying on the train for over 2 hours!

Late Dinner + Snacks @ Sheffield

After a very long gap (well our regular gap) from being away from each other - it was so hard because we went from being together for over a week straight, to no gap weekends, to a 4 day gap - then straight back into our normal 2 weeks. This ish just gets harder and harder for us.

Today also marks our 1 year and 1 month together - we are not the type of people to celebrate that kind of thing, due to the fact that we are not always together on the 16th of every month - as cheesy as this will sound, but we don't need one day of the month to be super special, as each day I'm with him is special!

I'm in Sheffield at 11pm, bless James for picking me up, but really and truly, he had to - I don't know where he lives - oh yes, this is my first time back in Sheffield since the new academic year has started and of course he now lives in a shared house and not in halls anymore. Exciting stuff - it's like my own personal getaway house.

As well as blessing me with his presence going to the house, he also bought me food! It was waiting for me to get home to it! And not just any type - TACO BELL! Well aren't I lucky? And isn't he so lucky to live down the road from one! Taco Bell closes at 11, so if you was wondering why he bought it for me, if he only lives down the road from it. I'm spoilt, but not that spoilt - okay I am, but shhh.

AND okay, now I know I'm spoilt - he also got me crips, because everytime I'm with him, I alway snack on crisp - it's an addiction! AND yes there is another 'and' HE BOUGHT ME KRISPY KREME DOUGHNUTS!

Mmmmm. Omg these desserts were just, words cannot describe. The cake that James had was like heaven in my mouth!

Of course, I had to get the dessert that had pistachos! It was good size and very satisfying for the amount of food we already had!

Although, the price did get to me a little just to have it in, but considering that Starbucks is almost the same (I think) I would think it's worth it then!

Lunch @ Smack - Lobster Roll, Soho

So, here we are, at the place where we was meant to have dinner last night! Haha when we established we will not be going out last night - we agreed to make sure we came today!

We did struggle to find it,
Well because the first one we went to was closed and turned into burger & lobster - we was not feeling that much food at that time to be honest.

So we walked all the way to the one in soho, while walking be into shops looking for a bag for myself - went to Zara to Teb Baker to Michael Kors, back to Zara real quick! Haha one day, I will own a Micheal Kors bag! Anyway...

We eventually found the place, we saw through the window that there was limited seating and the people by the window who had food - the roll looked quite small for its price but then, after all that walking - we wanted it!

I would now say that it is worth the price, as it is lobster to be fair. The chowder was amazing too! Yum!

It did fill us up to an extent, but it was good for us, since we passed a dessert shop on the way here and plus, there is loads of Filipino food at home due to my baby cousins birthday!

Dinner @ London

So, funny story, since we had lunch late and we were super full, when we headed back home to drop off our shopping and supposedly wanting to head back out for dinner. We said we would wait a bit, as I started watching my show - James started to fall asleep, so I let him nap. I got a bit carried away watching my shows as the addict I am - although, it was partly bcus I knew James was tired - I did wake him up a few times to ask if he was ready to go but I let me sleep anyway. It's was 8.30, then 9, then 10. That's when we realised we was no longer leaving the house.

So, I just made a quick light dinner as it was late and yeah - that was probably the first time we just didn't eat when we decided to do so in the first place.

Oh and I ended up making soup noodles after too - what? We hungry people!

James Bay @ O2 Academy, Brixton

We got to the O2 academy in Brixton at 6:40, the line was soooo long, even with having the O2 priority - although, I must say, it did go pretty quick once it started moving. You do meet such interesting people in these lines you know.

James & I managed to get some pretty good seats - in the front, nearly in the centre, there was a damn pole in the way but it's better than people's heads you can't move around.

Of course, as you can guess, James Bay was amazing! And James is completely in his own world when he knows the words to every song - it's so cute!

It is amazing to experience these things with him bcus I know how much he enjoys it! Heck if he could - he could go again!

Thank you baby for getting us these tickets and letting me share this experience from you!!

I feel like in the earlier days, all James & I ate was burgers, but it's been a while since we had one, so a burger is what we got!

You can't go to a place with someone's name and not get their signature burger with their name on it! Haha

It was so good, and I do love their chips! Very filling. This place also does all day breakfast and all that - we would definitely come back!

We finished at a reasonable time, just before 6 I believe. So we decided to head straight to Brixton from there!

Woo! James Bay today!

So James arrived in London around 2:30, so I took half day and finished at 2 - although he didn't actually get to me by 3:30, due to being stuck in the underground.

Anyway, regardless, he made it to me eventually. 2 is the usual time for me to eat for lunch, but I obviously had to wait for James. So once he came and I was done getting ready, we was ready for food!

We agreed to stay near the area as we had to get to Broxton by 7. As much time as that sounds, you'd be surprised.

So I knew of this place that a friend of mine has been to around my area, so we went there - right by the station, very convenient.

Mains was what we were aiming for but I cannot resist me some nachos. I am a sucker for anything avacado!
